Ricardo Lemvo | Composer Musician | Makina Loca | Los Angeles

Ricardo Lemvo has established himself as a pioneer with his innovative music. Lemvo’s blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms with pan-African styles (soukous, Angolan semba and kizomba) has been described by the Los Angeles Times as “seamless and infectious.”

Lemvo hails from São Salvador Do Congo (M’Banza-Kongo), Zaire in Northern Angola. He grew up in Congo-Kinshasa where he was introduced to Cuban music by a cousin who owned a large collection of vintage Cuban LPs. Lemvo came to the US more than 30 years ago to pursue a law degree but ended up devoting his life to music

Lemvo is the embodiment of the Afro-Latin Diaspora which connects back to Mother Africa via the Cuban clave rhythm. He is truly multi-cultural and equally at home singing in Spanish, Portuguese, Kimbundu, Turkish, Lingala, and Kikongo.

Since forming his Los Angeles-based band Makina Loca in 1990, Lemvo has refined his craft and vision, raising his joyous voice with strength, singing songs that celebrate life, and most importantly, inspiring his audiences to let loose and dance away their worries.

Ricardo Lemvo leaves an indelible impression with any and all who hear his music or see him perform. Why? Because, like Lemvo, there is no other.

Angus Prince | Producer | DJ | Dancer | South Africa

Angus Prince is a South African Salsero who fell in love with Afro-Latin music and dance after watching the Mambo Kings

His infectious energy and love of the music shone through and soon he was researching Salsa as if he was writing a thesis on it.  With limited resources, he depended on his connections globally to raise his own skill level and worked daily with multiple partners to train and improve and grow in this dance that had captivated his soul.

Angus started teaching a handful of people in 2003 and founded Evolution Dance Company in 2005 after growth in numbers and seeing the need to expand the Salsa footprint into other areas of Cape Town and South Africa.

He has also been involved with several community organizations over the years to teach young disadvantaged kids all over Cape Town to dance, teach and perform.

His passion for Salsa and love for all things Latin drove him to the dance and ultimately to become a Salsa DJ with a passion to share the music with the people of Africa. This has led to him being featured on South African radio and television for his events and community outreach programs in South Africa.

He is also the co-founder of Salsation South Africa which has in the last 5 years become a leader in Latin entertainment in South Africa.

2016 has seen him enter the US Salsa scene as one of the official DJs of the World Latin Dance Cup in Miami, and Now Joining the DJ Team at LA SALSA FEST
